യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രധാന ശുശ്രുഷകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് സൗഖ്യദായക ശുശ്രൂഷ. അശരണർക്ക് സാന്ത്വനമായി അതിരുകലേക്കുള്ള പ്രയാണമാണ് സൗഖ്യദായക ശുശ്രൂഷയെന്ന് അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗാനമാണ്  “മനസ്സുണ്ട് എനിക്ക് നീ ശുദ്ധമാക”. അത് എഴുതപ്പെട്ടതും ഈണം പകർന്നതുമായ സന്ദർഭം വിസ്മരിക്കാവുന്നതല്ല.

ഗർഭവതിയായിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് എൻ്റെ സഹോദരി ആശുപത്രി സന്ദർശിച്ചപ്പോൾ
സാന്ദർഭികമായിട്ടാണ്  അവളുടെ പാദത്തിലെ അസാധാരണമായ നീർക്കെട്ട് ഒരു ഡോക്ടറുടെ
ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപ്പെട്ടത്. തുടർന്നുള്ള പരിശോധനയിൽ അത് കിഡ്നി സംബന്ധമായ അസ്വസ്തതകൾ മൂലമാണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലായി. തുടർന്ന് പല ഹോസ്പിറ്റലുകളും കയറിയിറങ്ങി. വിദഗ്ദ്ധചികിത്സക്കായി മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിലേക്ക് നിർദ്ദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അപ്രകാരം തിരുവനന്തപുരം മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ സഹോദരിയെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു. നാളുകൾ കഴിയുന്തോറും രോഗാവസ്ഥ മൂർച്ചിച്ചു. രണ്ട് കിഡ്നിയുടെയും പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെ സാരമായി ബാധിച്ചു.  മെഡിക്കൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് പഠനവസ്തു ആകുന്നതല്ലാതെ രോഗം കുറയുന്നില്ല. ഏക പോംവഴി Kidney transplantation ആണ് . അതിനു തക്ക ആളെ (donor) കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിനോ, ഭാരിച്ച ചെലവുകൾ താങ്ങുന്നതിനോ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക്  ആകുമായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്റെ മാതാവ് പൂർണ്ണ സമയം ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ താമസിച്ചു മകളെ പരിചരിച്ചു. ഒരു കൈ താങ്ങായി   ഞാനും SCM സെൻ്ററിൽ താമസിച്ച് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ ദിനവും പോയി വന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ കടന്നുപോയ നെടുവീർപ്പുകളും ദൈന്യതകളും മനസ്സിലാക്കിയ സന്തോഷ് ജോർജ് ഒരു ചെറിയ കുറിപ്പ് എഴുതി എൻറെ പക്കൽ നൽകി. രണ്ട് നുറുങ്ങ് കവിതകളായിരുന്നു അത്. ഏതാനും പാട്ടുകൾ എഴുതുകയും അതിന് ഈണം പകരുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഈണം പകരുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ നല്കിയതായിരുന്നില്ല. അതിന് പറ്റിയ മാനസിക അവസ്ഥയും ആയിരുന്നില്ല . എന്റെ വ്യഥകളുടെയും ആശങ്കകളു ടെയും വിഹ്വലതകളിൽ ഒരു പാഥേയം പോലെ എന്റെ ഉള്ളത്തെ ബലപ്പെടുത്തുവാൻ അത് മതിയായതാ യിരുന്നു. ആ നാളുകളിൽ എന്റെ യാത്രക്കിടയിൽ ഉയിർഗമിച്ച ഈണമാണ് മനസ്സുണ്ടെനിക്ക് നീ ശുദ്ധമാക എന്ന ഗാനത്തിൻ്റേത്.

ഗലീലിയായുടെ പ്രാന്തസ്ഥിതങ്ങളിൽ ചേക്കേറുവാൻ നിർബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരാണ് കുഷ്ഠരോഗികൾ .ആ വഴി കടന്നുപോകുന്ന യേശുവിനെ കണ്ട്  “നിനക്ക് മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ എനിക്ക് ശുദ്ധമാകുവാൻ കഴിയും” എന്ന് ഒരു കുഷ്ഠരോഗി ആവശ്യപ്പെടുകയാണ്.  മതം വച്ചുപുലർത്തുന്ന ശുദ്ധാശുദ്ധാ നിയമങ്ങളെ തൊട്ടാൽ തനിക്കും ഒരുക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഇടം പാളയത്തിന് പുറത്താണെന്ന നിശ്ചയമുള്ള കർത്താവ് രോഗിയെ കണ്ട് പുറം തിരിയുകയായിരുന്നില്ല. രോഗിയോട് താതാത്മ്യപ്പെട്ടു  “മനസ്സുണ്ട് ശുദ്ധമാക” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ച് രോഗിയെ തൊട്ട് സൗഖ്യമാക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ ഇതിവൃത്തം. സാമ്പത്തിക - സാംസ്കാരിക ഉച്ചനീചത്വങ്ങളുടെ പാഴ് നിയമങ്ങൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കുകല്ല, ജീവ നിഷേധികളായ നിയമങ്ങളെ രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന,  ജീവനെ തന്നെ നല്കേണ്ടി വരുന്ന, ജീവന്റെ വിലയുള്ള  ശുശ്രൂഷയാണ് ആതുര ശുശ്രൂഷ. അതിനുള്ള നിശ്ചയദാർഢ്യവും സമർപ്പണവുമാണ് ഗാനം ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നത്.

SCM ഒരുക്കിയ കൂട്ടായ്മകളിൽ പങ്കാളിയായി  അതിന്റെ മേഖലാ കോ-ഓർഡിനേറ്ററായി  ഗാനങ്ങൾ പാടിയും പഠിപ്പിച്ചും പ്രയാണം ചെയ്ത ഒരു സഹയാത്രികനായിരുന്നു ഞാൻ. പാട്ടുകളും അതുയർത്തുന്ന ആദ്ധ്യാത്മീകതയും, എസ് സിഎം പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും ദൈവശാസ്ത്രാംശങ്ങളെ ആഴമായി മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതിനും  ക്രിയാത്മകമായി കാണുന്നതിനും  എന്നെ ഏറെ പ്രചോദിപ്പിച്ചു.

About The Lyricist

Santhosh George Joseph
Lyricist, music composer and music teacher. 

He has written composed around 300 songs both devotional and secular.
 
He has brought out music Albums Padamonnai, (Producer: Santhosh George) Poomazhayayi (Producer: Noble John) and Jeevadhara (Producer: Abraham Parangot). Many of his songs are published in the song books Padamonnai by Kristhava Sahithya Samithi and Janakeeya Ganangal by Dynamic Action.

Educational Qualification: MSc Communication Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University and MA English Literature, Kerala University .

Worked in Chattisgarh focusing on people’s theatre and organised a theatre group Lok Sanskritik Manch along with Shankar Mahanand. Worked as the Communication Secretary of Student Christian Movement of India, Bangalore, Programme Coordinator of the Thiruvalla Sanghom, Founder and Coordinator of Mediact, (Media Education for Awareness and Cultural Transformation) Thiruvananthapuram and Catalyst of kanthari International Institute of Social Entrepreneurs., Thiruvananthapuram. At present he is working as the director of Resonance School of Music, Thiruvananthapuram teaching western vocal music.

He is married to Suneela Jeyakumar who is working as an officer at Life Insurance Corporation of India, Thiruvananthapuram. He has three children Sangeeth, Ameya and Shreya.

About The Composer

Rev.Alexander Varghese
Lyricist, Composer and Priest in Mar Thoma Church.

He is born and brought up in Maramon. He studied BA at St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry and BD at United Theological College, Bangalore.

He has written songs with profound theological insights and lyrical quality. His musical compositions stand out in terms of its vocal range and character. Some of his songs are included in the Padamonnai Song books published by CSS Tiruvalla and Divyadhara music albums published by Maramon Mar Thoma Church Choir.

He worked as SCM coordinator at Melukavu- Ernakulam and led training workshops for SCM. He worked as the Student Chaplain of Mar Thoma School for Deaf at Kasargod, KVG Engineering and Dental Colleges at Sullia Karnataka. He was the first Resident Missionary at  Kokkathodu Mission. He also served different parishes of Mar Thoma Church in India and abroad.

His theological studies was mainly focused on social, cultural and theological significance of Janakeeya Ganangal.

He is married to Sherly Alexander and they have three children Chaitanya, Charutha and Chathurya.
